Why hand-crafted matters

A vacuum-formed mold gives you a pattern. A cast one gives you a surface.

Mass-produced tooling repeats. Look along a stamped patio and you can see where the mat was lifted and set down again, because the same three rocks keep appearing. Tooling cast from real material carries the irregularity of the original — which is the only thing that makes a finished floor stop looking stamped.
